About Pilates

Pilates is a system of physical and mental conditioning that uses resistance rather than impact to strengthen and stretch the entire body, as well as to calm and focus the mind. Emphasis is on quality of movement rather than quantity of reps or weight lifted. Pilates is often associated with abdominal work because all of the exercises are initiated from a strong center or core and flows outward . However, the vast Pilates repertoire is full body conditioning that is appropriate and beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels. Pilates is practiced on the reformer, chair and/or tower. The springs assist the body to build strength without bulk and engages postural muscles often neglected by sports or other workouts. By working the body evenly, focusing on alignment and precision, muscles are developed uniformly, which helps to correct imbalances, improve posture and prevent injury. Consistent Pilates practice will result in longer, leaner muscles; strong, stable joints; reduced stress; increased endurance, circulation, flexibility and much more.

What to Expect

If this is your first Pilates class, it may be a bit intimidating to see all the equipment. Often times, beginning with an Introductory Private Session is the a great way to get started. Our private sessions and group classes involve using the Pilates Reformers, Jump boards and Chairs. These pieces of apparatus use springs to provide guidance and resistance throughout your workout. Once you learn the fundamentals and groundwork then we continue to build and layer in new exercises with every class. The classes tone and firm up the entire body, with special emphasis on the core. The springs can be adjusted to different resistance levels to whatever is right for you. We want you to walk away with an energized wow feeling!

Regular Pilates practice doesn't stress your body in the ways that lifting weights or other workout methods may, this is why everyone can do it. Your bones will strengthen, muscles will tone and firm, and you will look fit. But, most of all, as you work out and begin to feel better physically, we hope you will also begin to feel better mentally. You'll stand taller, move with grace and most importantly, feel amazing!

What to Wear

Wear fitted workout clothes that you feel comfortable sweating in. You'll be laying down some of the time (yes, laying down and working out!) with your hands or legs in the air so make sure your clothes move with you. We don't allow shoes on the equipment but do require socks for sanitation. We recommend purchasing a pair of our Toe Sox with grippies to avoid any slippage on the equipment. These can be purchased in the studio for $15.

Owner and instructor, Beth Trometer, is comprehensively trained through Balanced Body and Peak Pilates enabling her to create a specialized program for each body, from beginner to professional athlete. She owned, operated, successfully grew and eventually sold her previous studio, Inner you Pilates, for nearly 5 years before her family was relocated to the LA area. Rest assured you are in great hands under her leadership, care and guidance. Beth’s study of movement, anatomy and exercise science has helped her refine the technique of many of her clients while increasing physical awareness and correcting structural imbalances. You will find Beth’s private and group sessions to be uplifting and energetic with special attention to strengthening the core, improving balance, increasing coordination and decreasing stress.

Brittany brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm and passion to her group classes and private lessons. She understands that many clients need to modify movements due to pre-existing conditions and injuries. Her seasoned experience with clients of various ages and backgrounds have shaped her classes to focus on form and fluidity of movement. Brittany’s upbeat personality is contagious. Prepare to leave feeling amazing and happy!

Tammy Jackson

Tammy is a certified group fitness instructor specializing in Pilates, Yoga, Circuit training, Piyo, and Pound! With over 15 years experience teaching fitness classes, (private and group) she loves to share her passion for wellness with everyone around her. Tammy’s yoga certification (200 Hour RYT) started in Chicago in the late 90s with Yogafit. Her continuing education has taken her all over and she’s even taught at resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. Her certification in Pilates is through the Pilates Sports Center of Southern California. Tammy’s passion for Pilates started a few years ago when her chiropractor mentioned that she needed to work on her core and hip strength and recommended Pilates. She immediately fell in love with all the different ways to experience Pilates, especially the Reformer.

Sibyl has been a passionate about health and fitness since she was a teenager. After dabbling in a mix of workouts including yoga, boxing, dance, and spin, she found the most successful workout for her to be Pilates. After practicing Pilates for the past 10 years, she decided it was finally time to become an Instructor. She loves working with people and is excited to pass on her enthusiasm for Pilates to others.

Tricialee Friedman

Growing up in the Bay Area, Tricialee wasn’t athletic, graceful, or coordinated. She was a bookworm interested in computer science and the budding social media landscape. However, after graduating American University in Washington DC, her lack of exercise and bad eating habits led her to a weight of 200 lbs.

Over the course of 3 years, she lost 75 lbs through a variety of cardio exercises. Then her fiance introduced her to Pilates and everything changed. The elusive grace, athleticism and coordination finally came to her by consistently practicing contemporary and classical Pilates.

In June of 2017, Tricialee left her old career as a social media manager to pursue her true passion: helping others reach their fitness goals, find joy in physical activity and achieve kindness towards themselves, as she did on her own journey. That passion seeps through with Tricialee’s energetic teaching style, as she guides group classes and privates from a place of “mindful movement.”

Since October 2015, Tricialee taught group fitness classes at 24 Hour Fitness - Beverly Hills, and still does today. She obtained a 200HR Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Certification in November 2017 from Red Diamond Yoga, and her 450HR Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Sheppard Method Pilates in January 2018. She resides in Mar Vista with her fiance and her Cockapoo.

Upon moving back to California from New York City, Dawn was a budding Massage Therapist, ACE certified Personal Trainer and Aerobics instructor where she began her career at Angel City Gym in West Hollywood. This is where she discovered Pilates and received her certification with Master Instructor Ivan Dahl, learning the Physical Mind Institutes Pilates Method. Since 1999, Dawn has worked with clients on all levels and loves reconnecting people to their bodies in ways that empower themselves to tap into their potential.

Nicole Santa Cruz

Nicole discovered Pilates while trying to treat lower back pain and quickly fell in love with the practice. She earned her certification through Balanced Body University while working full-time as a crime journalist. Nicole takes pride in helping clients discover the many benefits of Pilates, including increased strength, body awareness and flexibility. Clients say she has a down-to-earth, no-nonsense teaching style. Besides Pilates, Nicole enjoys traveling, hiking, high intensity interval training and spending time with her dog, Panda.

Kelly was introduced to Pilates through an injury rehabilitation program. She fell in love with its healing effects and earned her Pilates certification through STOTT Pilates in New York City. Since Kelly has also taken additional workshops in athletic conditioning, jumpboard, prenatal Pilates and the Pink Ribbon program. Kelly loves being a Pilates instructor and believes everyone can benefit from Pilates whether it’s for rehab, cross training or to get fit! She loves to help all of her clients reach their goals!

Talia was introduced to Pilates at an early age while doing Mari Winsor videos with her mom and sister in their living room. From that moment Pilates was the foundation to all of her athletic endeavors, especially as a dancer. Comprehensively certified through the classical program at Core Pilates NYC, Talia enjoys practicing, teaching and learning about Pilates, anatomy and movement. Borrowing from several modalities of exercise, such as yoga, barre and strength training, she enjoys adding creativity in her Pilates classes. Get ready to focus on control, strength, stability, and firing up those tiny muscles you never knew you had.

Valerie is a french native who discovered pilates 10 years ago and fell in love with the method. It’s helped her stay long and lean after 15 years of gymnastics. She earned her Pilates certification thru the Physical Mind Institute and looks forward to helping her clients gain awareness of their bodies while increasing core strength.

Nadia Gillespie

Nadia is a Los Angeles based Pilates instructor whose passion for fitness began in her early childhood from dance and inspiration from her grandmother, an aerobics instructor.

After becoming a fitness trainer, she completed her 600hr Pilates certification and then began teaching contemporary Pilates for group classes at local studios. She enjoys mixing up her classes with upbeat movements to strengthen the entire body, postural integrity, and flexibility to leave her clients feeling even stronger and uplifted.

Jasmine’s passion for movement led her to study the Pilates method under a descendant of Romana Kryzanowska. Beyond her certification her practice in many different fitness modalities, curiosity, and thirst for knowledge, led her to continue her education through STOTT and Balanced Body.

Her teaching emphasizes the importance of breath, postural integrity, mobility, and strength, which leaves clients feeling strong, balanced, and uplifted. In addition to Pilates, she enjoys athletic strength and agility interval drills on the football field, (with a Pilates warm up and cool down, of course!) and the graceful and challenging arabesques and pliés of barre-inspired workouts.
